"My husband and I purchased an older home built in the 1950’s. Over the years, this 1000 square foot dwelling was remodeled by several owners to accommodate a larger family, as a rental, and as a “flip” to make money. The square footage was increased an additional 350 square feet but the quality of the work was minimal. Our original intention was to remodel the interior kitchen. We interviewed 3 different contractors. Two of them had their own ideas and didn't listen to our requests or pay attention to our budget. The third, recommended through the kitchen design center that we contracted for our cupboards, was a total flake. He came once, made promises, and then retired without letting us know. We found Shelby Arbuckle, owner of Tiger Construction, through a recommendation from a kitchen/bath design center when purchasing our kitchen sink.
Our simple kitchen remodel turned out to be a bigger construction project. Because of the age of the home, the plumbing, wiring, heating system and/or lack thereof, and some of the previous do-it-yourself construction was either old, outdated, not up to code, and poorly executed. This was a first time construction project for both of us. Shelby was great in explaining all the things that needed to be done as they occurred. My husband and I had to make a lot of unplanned decisions and Shelby was very good giving us pros and cons abut each decision. As the remodeling unfolded, I will be honest and say, it was overwhelming at times due to the magnitude of each project to update an older home. Shelby was very professional, informing us when different trades people would be coming and what to expect for each of the differing areas of remodeling (plumbing, wiring, sheet rocking, tile laying, staining, painting, etc.). We chose to live in the house while under construction to save money for all the other unexpected additional things that had to be done.
Shelby takes a lot of pride and responsibility in his work. He pays great attention to detail and will re-do something (as in our old floors being tiled) until he feels it is “right” without adding extra charges or saying he’s done the first time around. Shelby knows his Construction codes and found several very unsafe conditions in our home that could have resulted in a fire. These things had to be fixed! Shelby is committed to the project and will concentrate on only your remodel until it is done. He doesn’t take additional jobs and put his clients through a rotation where you might see him once a week. He shows up each morning and leaves each day when he is at a good quitting point rather then leaving projects half-done and going onto something else. Shelby was also generous with “just giving you something” because he wanted to, such as moving our porch light switch that was behind a door to a more convenient location.
We felt very comfortable with Shelby and his team and basically gave him our house key during the 5 months of remodeling. Since we never vacated the premises, I felt like Shelby was part of the family and could go shopping, take weekend trips, go to work and never worried about losing valuables, etc.
Since our remodel, I have contracted Shelby for other various small projects in our home. Again, feeling very comfortable with his professionalism, honesty, and integrity. I highly recommend Shelby. He may take longer to get the project done, but again, the results show his attention to details to achiever the “look” you want."

"I had an idea of what type of archway I wanted constructed in place of the solid wall between my dining and living room. We had no sketches nor any idea of the exact molding. I threw some ideas at Shelby with Tiger Construction. In the timeline of about 2 weeks, Shel had investigated and determined all the materials to use for the project. I then started explaining and drawing what I wanted and Shel built to the exact picture that I had in my head. Basically, he had to do a lot of retrofitting to make it perfect. And it definitely is!"

Tiger Construction, installed a 2.0 PSL beam in my house to enable the opening of our kitchen to make it and the dining room a great room. I did most of the preliminary work, just because I'm handy and wanted to save time. Then Shelby and his crew came in and did the brain and brawn work of installing the beam. He and his crew also patched up the sheet rock and flooring after the job was complete.
Great, From the first phone call to saying good by, everything went as Shelby had described and predicted. Basically, I found Tiger Construction though this site, when I needed help with a beam in my house. I'm doing a remodel and I was falling behind with this portion and needed to catch up to meet other deadlines of install. So I called Shelby and explained what I needed and how fast I needed it done. Literally within hours of our first phone call, he had the guys and a plan in place and at the right price. He showed up with everything to complete the job, and in no time had the job rolling and me back on track. He completed the job on time and under budget and did an excellent job along the way.

He did a total house remodel, that involved re-plumbing the house, termite work, new kitchen and bathrooms from the walls out. He put in new cabinetry, appliances, tile floors, granite countertops. He installed new windows throughout, and added 2 new windows. New doors throughout the house and 2 exterior doors. He had gone down to the bare walls and studs in some places. He painted interior and exterior. This project also involved landscaping.
He did a job well done. It took time, patience and it was a fun project for me. I feel that my home can compete with the best homes in the neighborhood, which is due to his diligence and caring about the house. He paid attention to the details and was very meticulous. The price came in on contract, which was very far. He was a delightful person, lovely personality, and he went above and beyond. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

Shelby and his team (James and Tollice) were excellent and great to work with. I gave Shelby a call and he practically stop the car to talk to me. We had no experience working with a contractor so he briefly explain what we should consider, ie liability insurance when choosing contractor. He was able to come and give us a very detail estimate within a few days. His estimate was not the lowest among the contractors we had but we were impressed by his knowledge. He did not just come and tell us how much it would cost. He came and discussed what could be done and what could not be done. He also went back to research the price for materials for us. Shelby and his team spent around 2 weeks to tile kitchen back splash, install closet organizer in 2 bedrooms (which include going to Lowes to help us design the closet and customize the closet organizer due to unusual shape of our closet), install ceiling fan and light (he even found a better way to save cost and time to install the fan and did credit us back the money), mount tv in the wall and paint the master bathroom. We are very impress with Tiger Construction work. Every project was completed with high quality and they paid great attention to details. They are also very clean. They out all the equipment in the balcony and clean after their work every day. In conclusion, we are greatly impressed with their work and enjoyed working with them!

We have obtained a quote from Tiger to remodel our kitchen and selected Tiger to do the remodel, which will start shortly.
We contacted Shelby at Tiger based on his reviews. Once we had our design, who Shelby provided a reference for, Shelby went to work providing an extremely detailed step by step quote. We could have went with a cheaper alternative, but Shelby's professionalism sold us. We are removing a load bearing wall, and Shelby went directly to the engineer to make sure he understood the requirements, to check on alternatives, and to provide an accurate estimate. We are looking forward to our new kitchen and working with Shelby.
